From the Baltic Sea, Dominican Republic
and Mexico; amber is a fossilized resin of coniferous trees
of the Oligocene epoch (about 20 million years ago). It often
contains fragments or entire specimens of insects and plants
that accidentally fell into the sticky resin millions of years
ago. Amber becomes electrically charged when rubbed.
Amber has been used since prehistoric times to
make jewelry and religious objects; also used as a cure for
various illnesses, both physical and mental. Because amber
is a fossil, it has associations with time, cycles, and longevity.
Considered an activator of one’s altruistic nature,
amber also aids in the realization of the spiritual intellect,
and helps to align the mental body as it moves toward merging
with the spiritual body.
